Blobfish

Some people think Blob Fish are comical looking and the others think they are disgusting. These Blog fishes are completely made up of gelatinous substance and have no muscles at all. They just drift and float in the same place all the time expecting their next meal. They do not put any effort in searching for their food. Aren't they just lazy asses?

This Blob fish are seen off the Australian coast and also in Tasmania but hey do not anticipate to see them on your holidays because they are very rare to come by.

A recent study says that

The blob fish, which can grow up to 12 inches, is in danger of being wiped out by over-fishing in its south eastern Australian habitat. The fish, which lives at depths of up to 800m, is rarely seen by humans but it lives at the same depths as other ocean organisms, such as crabs and lobsters and other edible sea creatures. As a result the fish, which is inedible, is being dragged up with other catches by trawler fishermen

Gumprecht's Green Pit Viper

Snakes are always ugly. An exception to it is Cobra. yep! No matter what you think, I personally love cobras. They are venomous, dangerous, poisonous - I agree to all that but still they are cute and beautiful! :)

The species we are gonna see today in Ugly Animals is "Gumprecht's Green Pit Viper". It  is a green colored snake. The formal name for this snake is "Trimeresurus gumprechti". This species is found in the Greater Mekong especially in the Southeast Asian regions. 2002 is the year when this Ugly Animal was first discovered.

I do not think this guys looks like he is happy that we found it, does he? :D

Oriental Yeti

Yeti are hairless creatures and are said to be found in the China's remote woodlands. There is no more information from me or the Science world to say about this animal. All I know and heard of is - this Yeti is transported to Beijing by the Scientists to carry out the DNA tests for learning and trying to understand what exactly this animal is!

Apart from saying this looks as ugly as hell, I really feel pity towards this creature. I don't know why but I just do!

Baird Tapir

You sure must have heard of Tapirs.

Tapirs are Large inoffensive chiefly nocturnal ungulate of tropical America and southeast Asia having a heavy body and fleshy snout

Now, talking about the, "Baird Tapir" they are the largest mammal found in Mexico up to South America. The statistics say these ugly animals grow 6.6 ft in length and 3.9 ft in height on an approximate rate. As if these Baird Tapirs are not ugly already, GOD has given them have only three toes on each back foot and four toes on each front foot.

I am not gonna try to justify why Baird Tapirs are ugly animals. I let the pictures do the job for you:

Little Lorikeets

Do you know what Lorikeets are? They are the smaller ones of "lories". Now, do not ask me what are lories :D

Lories are Small brightly colored Australasian parrots having a brush-tipped tongue for feeding on nectar and soft fruits

You may even think - "Are you nuts? This is not ugly! This is nowhere near ugly and this can never be ugly in no one's eyes" I agree :)

This is plain beautiful and even attempting to call it ugly will be nothing but pure stupidity. If it is that beautiful why is it even here in this Ugly Animals blog then?

Now, that is a surprise! There is saying, "Even the little ones of a Pig look cute!" but hey there are exceptions always to every thing we say and this Lorikeets are an exception too! Do you want to see the little ones?

Okay, here is the Lorikeets that are just 12 days old. These are native to the East Coast Australia. While Lories are really beautiful their little ones still need some coloring to do. Until then they sure are Ugly!

Vampire Flying Frog

This froggy creature is called as the "Vampire Flying Frog". Now for those who love Vampires this one may not look ugly :D

Coming to the facts, this Ugly Animal (Is Frog an Animal?) has been found in the mountain jungles of the Vietnam. This species was first found during 2008 and this 5 centimeter long frog is said to be found only in the cloud forests of Southern Vietnamese. This Ugly Animal glides from tree to tree using its webbed fingers and toes.

Now you may wonder why did I list here in the Ugly Animals - valid question! The uglier part is yet to come...

Guess what?

This Vampire frog tadpoles have small black fangs. The scientists found out in 2010 that its tadpoles have the strange curved black "fangs".

However, what the scientists do not yet understand is - what is the purpose of these fangs? Nevertheless, these frogs often feed their tadpoles by laying unfertilized eggs as meals. Now that is disgusting! There is a guess that these fangs could be helpful in slicing or slitting up those eggs, may be? :)

Impalas are an important food source for many larger predators, especially cheetahs, lions, hyenas, etc. Young impalas may be taken by birds of prey such as Martial eagles.

These animals are probably the most common and most commonly seen antelope in eastern Africa. One subspecies, the black-faced impala is endangered, but both species suffer from over-hunting.
